Freire, Natoli Earn ASUN Weekly Honors

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida Men's Soccer fifth year goalkeeper Luciano Natoli and senior defender Tarik Freire earned ASUN Conference weekly honors on Monday.

Natoli was named ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this season and Freire was tabbed ASUN Defensive Player of the Week. North Florida has now earned seven weekly conference honors this season.

North Florida improved to 7-3-1 overall and 4-0-0 in ASUN Conference play last week. North Florida has won seven of its last eight matches and moved to 4-0-0 in ASUN Conference play for the first time since 2016.

North Florida earned a pair of shutout wins against Trinity College of Jacksonville, 3-0, on Sept. 22 and Stetson, 1-0, on Sept. 26.

Natoli started both matches and notched a combined shutout and a solo shutout in goal for North Florida last week. It marked the second shutout of the season for Natoli. Natoli notched four saves in 90 minutes against Stetson.

Freire netted his first collegiate goal and played 73 minutes on the backline against Trinity College of Jacksonville. He totaled the full 90 minutes against Stetson.

North Florida closes out its four-match homestand when it hosts Central Arkansas on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
