
Volleyball Cruises Past George Washington To Close Out Classic City Clash, 3-1

ATHENS, Ga. - North Florida Volleyball secured its second win at the Classic City Clash, defeating George Washington, 3-1, at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Ga., on Saturday.
First year middle blocker Sasha Bespaly posted a career-high 10 kills on .333 hitting. Fourth year outside hitter Kaili Doctor and third year outside hitter Dakota Spurrier each turned in a match-high 14 kills. Spurrier tallied a team-high two aces and notched her second double-double of the season with 14 kills and 10 digs.
Second year setter Sofia Dawson registered a match-high 41 assists to go with seven digs and two blocks. Fourth-year libero Emma Pohlmann turned in a match-high 17 digs.
UNF 3, GWU 1 (25-19, 25-20, 13-25, 25-19)
SET ONE:
Doctor recorded three kills and one ace to help give the Ospreys a 14-13 lead midway through the frame. Bespaly tallied her third kill on .750 hitting to help extend North Florida's advantage. Dawson and second year middle blocker Haleina Bowers combined for a clutch block to put the Ospreys ahead, 21-18, before UNF secured the set.
SET TWO:
Third year libero Julianna Santiago notched an ace to open the frame. Back-to-back aces by Spurrier helped give North Florida a 6-2 lead. Spurrier reached six kills on .308 hitting early in the set. A kill by Doctor and an ace from Dawson pushed North Florida ahead, 18-13, before the set reached its final margin.
SET THREE:
First year outside hitter Lily Rodgers posted her first collegiate kill. George Washington posted nine kills to North Florida's three en route to winning the frame.
SET FOUR:
Bespaly and fourth year middle blocker Yarimar Francis Garay tallied a combined block to open the frame. Spurrier reached a match-high 13 kills and eight digs amid the set to help extend North Florida's advantage. Bespaly reached a career-high eight kills amid the frame. Doctor's 13th and 14th kills down the stretch of the final set paved the way for North Florida's victory.
