FORT MYERS. Fla. - North Florida narrowly fell in its second game of its weekend series against Florida Gulf Coast, 5-4, at Swanson Stadium on Friday evening.
Tyler Gerteisen opened the scoring in the top of the second with a two-run home run that put the Ospreys ahead 2-0. However, the Eagles responded in the bottom half of the frame with a solo homer to cut its deficit to one run.
The Ospreys added to their lead in the fourth inning when
Eric Fouraker belted UNF's second two-run homer of the game, this time extending its advantage to 4-1 heading into the middle innings.
Despite holding FGCU scoreless for four-straight frames, the Eagles went on to plate two runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth, bringing the score to its final margin.
