Baseball Falls To West Georgia

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida baseball fell to West Georgia on Saturday, 9-3, in the second game of the weekend series at Harmon Stadium.

West Georgia scored the initial run in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice RBI. Sophomore Nick Monile scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at one.

The Wolves added three runs in the second inning to make it 4-1. In the bottom of the second, Monile advanced to third on a leadoff single and errant Wolves' throw on a stolen base before he was plated once more on a wild pitch.

Freshman Bryson Treichel tossed a 1-2-3 fourth inning to keep the score locked at 4-2. The Wolves turned in three more runs in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 7-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, sophomore Mitchell Collins led off the frame with a stand-up double off the left field wall before senior Connor Moore drove in the Ospreys' third run of the afternoon with a base hit back up the middle.

UWG added another run in both the sixth and ninth to reach the final score. Senior Clayton Boroski tossed three innings of one-hit relief with four strikeouts.
