Baseball Drops Game One Against Stetson

JACKSONVILLE. Fla. – North Florida faltered against Stetson, 13-4, in game one of its weekend series at Harmon Stadium on Friday evening.

The Ospreys grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Connor Moore doubled down the left field line, scoring freshman Seth Alford from second who reached on a single. Stetson responded with one run in the third frame to knot the score at one apiece.

Alford hit his first of two solo home runs in the bottom half of the third to put North Florida back ahead 2-1. However, the back-and-forth affair continued into the fourth when the Hatters tied the game at 2-2 with an RBI single.

Junior Santiago Ordonez put the Ospreys back ahead, 3-2, in the sixth frame with a single to center, scoring Moore from second who roped a double to left field.

A three-run seventh inning by Stetson commanded the Hatters with a 5-3 advantage. Alford's second solo homer of the night brought the Ospreys within one run, though that's as close as UNF would get before the score came to its final margin.
