No. 17 Beach Volleyball Sweeps Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – No. 17 North Florida beach volleyball cruised past crosstown rival Jacksonville to open action at the North Florida Invite on Friday. 
 
North Florida continued action into the afternoon against Mercer before it was postponed due to lightning in the surrounding areas. Action with Mercer is expected to resume on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. 
 
North Florida swept Jacksonville for the fourth time this season with straight-sets at each line. 
 
The initial wave set the tone with dominant wins at the four and five positions. Senior Emily Guenter and sophomore Anne Marie Hardouin posted a 23-21, 21-9 win at five. Senior pair Andrea Da Silva and Hayden Wooldridge turned in a 21-11, 21-12 win at four. The junior tandem of Presley Murray and Mackenzie Murphy secured the match with a 21-13, 21-6 win at the one line. Sophomore Cameron Humphries and senior Taylor Pierce added a 21-17, 21-13 win at the three spot. Senior Mariana Feliciano Sanchez and junior Madison Espy clinched the sweep with a 21-13, 21-7 win at two. 
 
North Florida returns to the sand on Saturday to battle Mercer and Jacksonville in round-robin action for its final duals at The Cooper Beach Volleyball Complex this season. North Florida will honor four seniors – Mariana Feliciano Sanchez, Emily Guenter, Taylor PierceHayden Wooldridge – prior to its dual with Mercer at 12 p.m.
