Baseball Wins Sunday Game Against Ball State

Nick Monile Records Three RBIs in 6-5 win

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Three RBIs from Nick Monile and a late RBI double from Seth Alford helped North Florida win the series finale against Ball State, 6-5, Sunday afternoon from Harmon Stadium.

Locked in a 4-4 tie, James Oman singled. He stole second two batters later and scored on an RBI double by Alford which gave North Florida (7-5) a 5-4 lead over Ball State (6-5).

UNF added a run in the seventh. With one out, Connor Moore smacked a triple. With Moore at third, Cade Bush brought him home on a sac fly.

Trailing 6-4, Clay Jacobs cracked a leadoff double. With a runner at second, Gavin Balius ripped an RBI single to make it a one-run game.

The Ospreys opened the scoring in the second. Brady Browning walked, stole second, and advanced to third on an error. Drew Leinenbach brought him home on an RBI single. Leinenbach advanced to second on a wild pitch and stole third. Alford walked to put two UNF runners on. With runners at first and third, Monile laced a two-run triple to put the 'Spreys ahead 3-0.

The UNF bats stayed hot in the fourth. Oman doubled to start the inning. Following a strikeout, Eric Fouraker and Alford drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. With the bases full, Nick Monile scored Oman on a fielder's choice as UNF went up 4-0.

Ball State scored their first run of the game in the fifth. Garrett Arnold singled with one out. Two batters later, Nick Husovsky doubled and scored Arnold to make it 4-1.

The Cardinals rallied and tied the game in the sixth. Blake Bevis reached on an error. Following a flyout, Jacobs singled and Balius walked. With the bases loaded, Houston King cleared the bases on a three-run double to tie the game at four.
