Baseball Drops Third Straight, Lose Series to Ball State

Bryson Treichel Impresses In 6-2 Loss

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.Bryson Treichel tossed five scoreless but the North Florida Ospreys fell to the Ball State, 6-2, on Saturday afternoon at Harmon Stadium.

Behind 1-0, Alex Richter singled to lead off the sixth inning for Ball State (6-4). He advanced to second and third on two wild pitches, and scored on a sac fly from Nick Husovsky to tie the game at one.

Locked in a 1-1 tie, Clay Jacobs walked, stole second, and advanced to third on a passed ball. Garrett Arnold walked to put two runners on. With runners at first and third, Korbin Griffin (2) crushed a pinch hit three-run home run to put the Cardinals ahead 4-1.

North Florida (6-5) responded in the bottom of the seventh. Brady Browning (2) smacked a solo home to cut the deficit to two.

The Cardinals' offense did not slow down. With two outs in the eighth, Blake Bevis (4) cracked a solo home run which gave Ball State a 5-2 advantage.

Ball State scored one final time in the ninth. Gavin Balius singled to start the inning. He stole both second and third, scoring later in the inning on an RBI single from Dylan Grego.

UNF struck first in the fourth. Jabin Bates singled with one out. Bush smacked a double and the Ospreys put two runners on. Two batters later, James Oman ripped an RBI single to give the Spreys a 1-0 lead.

Starting pitcher Bryson Treichel rolled through the Ball State lineup. He tossed five scoreless while striking out five. It is his third consecutive scoreless outing of the the season
