Softball Sweeps Opening Day of Make It Happen Games

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. - North Florida softball dominated on both sides of the plate in their doubleheader slate against Cornell and Siena to open up their weekend at the Make It Happen Games on Friday evening.

The Ospreys showed great performances in each of the two games with the highlight of the day being from Allison Benning against Cornell. She spun five shutout innings with one hit allowed and 10 strikeouts, while also smashing two homers on a 3-for-4 day, including the walk-off run-ruler in the sixth inning to win 10-1.

Macie Hunolt helped carry UNF in the backend of their games Friday with a complete-game showing with no runs allowed and four strikeouts. Sac-fly scores from Kelsey Vogel and Hadlee Reichert pushed the Ospreys ahead of Siena for a 2-0 shutout win to give UNF its sixth win in a row.
