Men's Tennis Unable to Pull Out Upset Versus Utah

Box Score SEATTLE, Wash. - North Florida men's tennis won the doubles point and was tied a 2-2 against Power Four opponent Utah, but late tiebreakers in singles play loomed large in a 4-2 defeat on Saturday evening.

The Ospreys had big-time doubles wins from Gianluca Filoramo and Lorenzo Messina, as well as Chase Healey and Joao Portugal, to pull out a the point early. Andreas Scott and Bruno Vietri were tied at 5-5 on the first court, but it went unfinished after UNF secured the needed point.

In singles play, Portugal continued to impress with a straight-set victory on court six after Utah responded to get the score knotted at 2-2. Both freshmen Labbene and Filoramo were tightly contesting the second set on courts three and four, but both were unable to avoid the straight-set sweep to drop the match, 4-2.
