
Men's Soccer Selected To Face North Carolina In NCAA Championship First Round

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – North Florida Men's Soccer is officially slated to make its third NCAA Championship appearance when it battles North Carolina in the First Round on Thursday, Nov. 20. at Dorrance Field in Chapel Hill, N.C at 6 p.m. ET.
North Florida returns for a second-consecutive season to the national stage after it secured back-to-back Atlantic Sun Championship titles. Junior defender Paul Schacherer scored the championship-clinching goal in the first overtime period of the ASUN Championship Final to propel North Florida past Bellarmine, 3-2, at Hodges Stadium.
The winner of the NCAA First Round match will advance to face nationally-seeded No. 4 Maryland. The Second Round will be played on Sunday, Nov. 23, at College Park, Md., slated for a 1 p.m. ET start.
North Florida draws connections to both North Carolina and Maryland ahead of its match. Redshirt senior forward Luc Granitur played at North Carolina in 2021-22, while junior midfielder Tyler Prebenda spent 2023 at Maryland.
With a Division I program-record 12 wins, the Ospreys will be one of 10 programs in the First Round to have 12 or more wins to this point in the season. North Florida was also one of 22 automatic bids to reach the postseason and has its sights on its first NCAA Championship win when it takes the field on Thursday.
