Ospreys Renovate Weight Room & Athletic Training Room
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida Athletics unveiled renovations to the weight room and Buster Browning Athletic Training Room at Hodges Stadium on Thursday.
I am so thankful to our donors for making this transformational project a reality. A renovated weight room and athletic training room will provide great resources to benefit the health and wellbeing of our 320 student-athletes.-- Nick Morrow, Director of Athletics
The project, spearheaded by transformational contributions from the Hodges family and #904Day, builds on North Florida Athletics’ holistic commitment to provide the best resources, elevate the student-athlete experience and sustain excellence across all 19 athletics programs.
The #904Day initative in September 2024 contributed a total of $33,776 behind the support of a record 339 donors to the space.
The generous gift from the Hodges and UNF family elevated the Buster Browning Athletic Training Room with a complete face lift. The project is highlighted by enhanced branding throughout the space, updated flooring, renovated hydrotherapy room with the addition of two hot/cold plunge pools, upgraded treatment tables and therapeutic modalities throughout the facility. These advancements allow our team to continue to provide high-quality medical services and elevate student-athlete wellness at North Florida.-- Fred Burnett, Associate A.D. of Sports Performance
Built in 2006, the project marks the first major renovation to the Buster Browning Athletic Training Room since its construction. Within the current 3,000-square-foot footprint, the Buster Browning Athletic Training Room was outfitted with upgraded flooring, treatment tables, therapeutic modalities and a completely renovated HydroTherapy Room.
The weight room, which was completed in 2008, also experienced its first update. The space was newly equipped with state-of-the art strength and conditioning equipment that includes eight Sorienx Power Racks, upgraded rubber bumper plates and PLAE flooring with eight inlaid platforms.
The entire athletic performance facility was bolstered with updated branding throughout the space.
We are extremely excited to announce the upgrades to the weight room at Hodges Stadium. The upgraded flooring and inlaid platforms have opened our space, allowed for better accommodation of all teams and provided the room to add two more power racks. The updated branding throughout the facility has created an energized environment that allows our staff to continue to train the best at the highest level. We are thankful to the Hodges family, in addition to the UNF and Jacksonville community for their continued support of our student-athletes.-- Brian Bert, Assistant A.D. of Sports Performance
