Men's Soccer Drops 1-0 Match to UAB

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's soccer (1-2-2) suffered its first home loss of the season after dropping a 1-0 match against UAB (2-1-1) on Friday afternoon at UNF Turf Field.

The Ospreys had possession of the ball through most of the first half, but were scored on in the 35th minute off a deflection inside the box. UNF had chances in the second half of play, but shots were off the mark in the matinee home match.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Ospreys controlled the pace of the game through the first 10 minutes of the match with ball control.
  • At the first water break in the 27th minute, both teams had three shots each but none on goal.
  • Iu Pentinat made his first save as an Osprey in the 32nd minute to keep things scoreless.
  • UAB scored off an unlucky deflection to draw first blood in the 35th minute.
  • Back-to-back saves by UNF kept the score at a one-goal margin just moments into the second half.
  • Joaquin Acuna puts his head on one in the box, but it hits the post and out of play in the 78th minute.
  • Acuna had one last chance on a breakaway in the 83rd minute, but it was wide right to secure a 1-0 score for the Blazers.
