Volleyball Starts League Play at Home

Ospreys Host Jacksonville, Central Arkansas

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida volleyball returns home after five-straight matches on the road to open league play against Central Arkansas and Jacksonville Saturday and Sunday. 

UNF's match against JU was originally scheduled for Thursday, although Tropical Storm Helene pushed the contest to Sunday evening.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -
Due to Tropical Storm Helene, North Florida volleyball's match against Jacksonville scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. will now be played Sunday, Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. from the UNF Arena.

Series History
Central Arkansas:
This is the fifth meeting between the two teams and the second in Jacksonville ... the head-to-head series is split, 2-2, with North Florida defeating the Bears in Conway, Ark., a year ago.
Jacksonville: This is the 50th meeting between the two teams ... North Florida paces the all-time series, 31-18 ... the Ospreys are 18-5 against JU at home ... UNF has won every home match against JU during head coach Kristen Wright's tenure ... the Ospreys have won all but one meeting against JU during Coach Wright's tenure.

ASUN Play
UNF begins its 16-game ASUN schedule ... North Florida will play its first four league games at home, hosting JU, UCA, Stetson and FGCU ... North Florida is 51-41 in league play under head coach Kristen Wright ... North Florida will play ASUN newcomer West Georgia for the first time in Carrollton, Ga., Oct. 13.

Tested vs. The Best
UNF is coming off a six-game stretch that had the Ospreys play No. 21 FSU, USF, NC State, Boston College, San Diego and LSU ... the Ospreys played five of those six matches away from the UNF Arena.

Mya's Moment
Mya Sopata made the most of her moments over the last four matches ... after pacing UNF in kills against NC State, Sopata earned a starting spot at LSU, posting her first-career double-double against Boston College while adding 11 kills and .455 hitting against LSU ... Sopata has 47 kills in 12 matches after having only four kills in her entire career prior to this season.

Scouting Central Arkansas
UCA is 4-8 and 1-0 in the league after sweeping North Alabama last Friday ... the Bears Laci Bohannon and Caylan Koons both took home weekly honors last week ... the Bears are in their fifth season under head coach John Newberry ... it's the second year in the Atlantic Sun for the former Southland Conference team.

Scouting JU
JU is 5-7 in the first season under head coach Alicia Roth ... Cami Kelsay and Breanna McDonough pace the way with over 100 kills each ... the Dolphins have played like opponents in Boston College and Florida A&M ... JU lost both of those matches in four frames.
