
Pair of Late Goals Leads to Comeback Result at South Carolina

Miyakawa Scored in 81st Minute, Masker Drew in 85th Minute
COLUMBIA, S.C. - North Florida men's soccer (1-1) stayed resilient through all 90 minutes of its road match against South Carolina (1-1) with a 2-2 comeback draw on the road Sunday afternoon.
After falling down by two scores, Rentaro Miyakawa pumped life back into the Ospreys' squad with the team's first goal of the 2024 season. Just three minutes later, Braden Masker sent one from outside the box with help from a slight deflection to force the road result.
The Ospreys produced its first result under head coach Jamie Davies with the comeback draw on the road. They also either tied or won a match against a Power Four school for the first time since defeating N.C. State in 2016.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- South Carolina struck first in the 16th minute with a score on their first shot on goal of the game.
- Just moments afterwards, Pedro Amancio recorded a shot on goal, but it was saved by the USC goalkeeper.
- Freshman Rafa Rios, as well as Joaquin Acuna, had a few shot attempts before the end of the half.
- The Gamecocks scored again right out of the break to extend their lead to two goals.
- Tyler Prebenda had an opportunity in the 61st minute off a rebound, but it went just right of the post.
- After a turnover by South Carolina, Miyakawa made it costly by scoring UNF's first goal of the year to make it a 2-1 game.
- Just over three minutes later, Masker lined up his shot from outside the left side of the box and bounced in the equalizing goal to secure the 2-2 draw on the road.
