Ospreys Aim to Remain Undefeated in Season Openers under Faulconer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women’s soccer opens its 29th season in program history at Miami tomorrow at 5 p.m. in Coral Gables. It will be the fifth meeting between these two sides and the first since 2022.

UNF and Miami are going head-to-head for the fifth time … North Florida is looking for a first-ever win over the Hurricanes on Thursday … The last matchup came during the 2022 season where Miami won 1-0 in a tight contest … This will be the fourth match played in Coral Gables, the lone game hosted by the Ospreys came during the 2016 campaign.

UNF concluded the 2023 season with an overall record of 4-9-5, while going 2-6-3 in ASUN play, falling to Jacksonville in the River City Rumble in the final matchup of the regular season.

  • North Florida was tabbed sixth in the ASUN Preseason Coaches Poll 
  • Zara Siassi made the Preseason All-ASUN Team for a third consecutive season 
  • Freshman Allison Souers was named to the TopDrawerSoccer ASUN Freshman to Watch list for 2024, she broke the goal-scoring record for her high school 
  • Siassi was also selected to the TopDrawerSoccer ASUN Players to Watch list for 2024, she has started all 62 games of her UNF career
  • Miami saw an overall record of 3-10-4 during the 2023 season, while going 2-7-1 in ACC play 
  • Sophomore Caroline Hood paced the team with two goals, while defender Emma Tucker tallied the most assists, with three 
  • Goalkeeper Melissa Dagenais put up 71 saves through 15 matches in her final season 
  • Miami scored 11 goals last season, permitting 28, while making 63 more saves than its opponents a year ago
  • Head coach Ken Masuhr enters his first season with the Hurricanes after spending the past nine seasons at Vanderbilt
  • UNF is 5-0 in season openers under head coach Eric Faulconer 
  • Last year the Ospreys dismantled Air Force in a 3-0 victory at Hodges Stadium
