Jonas Hartenstein held his own on a national stage representing North Florida men's tennis, but ultimately fell to Alabama's No. 29 Filip Planinsek (6-2, 6-1) during the first round of the NCAA D-I Men's Tennis Singles Championship on Monday afternoon.

Hartenstein started off strong with the opening game point in the match, but Planinsek gained the momentum with the next three points. The senior pulled back within one in make it a 3-2 score, but couldn't build off the point to drop the first set, 6-2.
In the second set, Hartenstein struggled to gain a point through the first two games, but found his rhythm to make it a 2-1 score. Although he put up a good fight until the very end, the top player from Alabama bested Hartenstein in a pair of frames.
Hartenstein finished his 2024 campaign as the ASUN Player of the Year, Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Doubles Pair of the Year, as well as First Team All-Conference, All-Academic Team and CSC All-District selections. He recorded 15 singles play and 17 doubles play wins on the year, including a flawless 9-0 mark against conference opponents.
In his career, the Berlin, Germany, native complete his Osprey journey with two ASUN Doubles Pair of the Year honors with
Rodrigo Crespo, three ASUN All-Conference First Team selections, three ASUN All-Academic Team selections, five ASUN Player of the Week selections and two CSC Academic All-District selections. This season, he reached No. 118 in ITA singles and No. 44 in ITA doubles with NCAA Championship team and singles appearances after winning both the ASUN regular season and tournament titles.
