JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida baseball (18-21, 8-11 ASUN) could not hold a late lead in the final innings of the game, as they fell to Stetson (27-15, 13-6 ASUN), 6-3, on Friday evening at Harmon Stadium.
North Florida jumped out to an early lead in the first.
Connor Moore led off the game with a double and scored two batters later on a sacrifice fly from
Jakob Runnels. UNF extended their lead in the fifth, as Runnels delivered again with an RBI-single to score
Finn Howell.
Stetson's offense began to rally in the sixth, as the Hatters loaded the bases in a 2-0 game. A wild pitch from
Kaden Humphrey brought home Stetson's first run of the game and cut the lead in half.
The Hatters were stifled offensively until the eighth. With runners at the corners, Isaiah Barkett singled home Yohann Dessureault, which tied the game at two. Two batters later, Gio Cueto gave Stetson the lead on a two-run single.
Dessureault added to his impressive night with an RBI-single to extend the lead to 5-2. Barkett kept the line moving later in the inning, bringing home Stetson's sixth run of the night.
Jabin Bates singled and scored later in the ninth inning on a wild pitch to make it a 6-3 game, but Stetson closed out the win a few batters later.
