JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - In its final home match of the '24 season, North Florida women's tennis (11-9) defeated Eastern Kentucky (9-17) on senior day Friday afternoon at UNF Tennis Complex.
The Ospreys put on a dominant display in doubles play, giving them the early lead over EKU. With singles play being much of the same, they would go on to win their last home match of the season by a score of 5-2.
UNF had everything going for them in doubles play against the Colonels,
Amy Kaplan and
Alisa Lyshko would sweep their court, 6-0, claiming it early on in play. Shortly after,
Kendall Nash and
Anslee Long gave the Ospreys the point after winning, 6-2.
They continued to put on a show in singles play, as they took three straight courts to propel them to the victory.
Jasmin Makela started things off with sweeps in both sets, followed by Lyshko winning in straight sets to increase the lead to 3-0 over the Colonels.
Kaplan would clinch the win for the Ospreys after she won in straight sets giving UNF the 4-0 lead over EKU. UNF would go on to win one more court en route to their 5-2 victory over the Colonels.
Next up for the Ospreys, they will go on the road for their last match of the regular season against Queens on Sunday, Apr. 14, at 10 a.m., in Charlotte, N.C.
