Long Ball Dooms Baseball In Saturday Loss To Seton Hall

Ospreys Allow Four Home Runs In 11-4 Loss

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida baseball (8-6) fell to Seton Hall (8-5), allowing four home runs in an 11-4 loss on Saturday afternoon at Harmon Stadium.

UNF never led in the game, falling behind in the first and never recovering. It is just the second time the Ospreys have lost a weekend game, the first since opening night.

Danny Melnick opened the scoring for Seton Hall in the first, driving an RBI double to the gap in right-center field. UNF catcher Jakob Runnels would quickly tie the game, hitting his second home run of the season over the left field wall.

Clayton Boroski made his first start of the '24 season and was sharp early. The right hander limited the damage in the first, and would toss a scoreless second and third inning. He would run into trouble in the fourth, allowing back-to-back singles and then a three-run home run to Joey Calabretti.

Will Ohme would enter for Boroski and would have trouble with his command. He would also allow a three-run home run, this time to Andrew Bianco. Despite trailing big, the UNF offense would gain momentum and have a big sixth inning.

The impressive sixth did not slow down the Seton Hall offense, as they got a run back on a solo home run by Zack Sylvester. They'd add an additional three runs in the eighth, two off a home run by Staus Pokrovsky. The Ospreys offense was shut down from the seventh inning on, as Seton Hall secured the victory.
