Pitchers Deal, Bats Shine In Friday Night Win Against Seton Hall

Bryce Fisher Tosses Five Dominate Innings In Victory

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida baseball (8-5) bounced back in a Friday night victory over Seton Hall, 6-4, at Harmon Stadium.

Bryce Fisher was fantastic, tossing five innings of relief and securing his first victory of the '24 season. The Ospreys improve to 7-1 on the weekends, and have not lost a weekend game since opening night.

UNF starter Peter Holden was in control early, facing the minimum through two innings. Cade Bush got the scoring started in the second, launching a two-run home run over the scoreboard. A throwing error by Seton Hall's starter allowed the Ospreys to score two more runs. Tripp McKinlay then plated Alex Rodriguez from third to bring the run total up to five.

Holden would pitch a scoreless third and fourth inning, but would run into trouble in the fifth. The Pirates would load the bases, and score two runs on a throwing error by Holden on a pickoff attempt. Kyle Lyons would single up the middle and score a run to make it a two run game.

Fisher would enter in the fifth and would limit any more runs from scoring. The Ospreys would continue to put baserunners on, but could not bring any of them home. Seton Hall would make it a one-run game in the seventh, as Rodriguez missed a grounder, allowing a run to score. Fisher would escape the eighth inning, stranding the tying run in scoring position.

Rodriguez would reach base via an error in the eighth, and would score on an RBI single by McKinlay. Fisher retired the side in order in the ninth, securing his first win as an Osprey.
