JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida baseball (7-5) fell in back-to-back midweek games this week, as they were defeated by North Carolina A&T (10-2), 10-5, on Wednesday evening at Harmon Stadium.
North Carolina A&T opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first. UNF responded with a run in the bottom of the inning to knot the score at one. Starter Brett Dennis pitched a solid second inning but ran into trouble in the third. The Aggies would score three runs to pull away from the Ospreys.
NC A&T pulled away in the fifth scoring four runs off of Avery Love. A controversial strike-three call extended the inning and allowed the Aggies to plate the runs. The big hit of the inning was Isaiah Monge's two-run triple off the center field wall. Jordan Wimpelberg would come on in relief and toss a scoreless sixth and seventh inning.
Shemar Dalton would continue NC A&T's impressive offensive night with an RBI triple down the right field line in the eighth. He would score later in the inning on a sacrifice fly. The Ospreys would get those two runs back in the bottom of the inning. Tripp McKinlay would double home a run and would score on an RBI single from Jakob Runnels.
Kaden Humphrey would put together a scoreless ninth inning to keep the score the same. The Ospreys would continue to battle in the ninth, scoring two on a Tripp McKinlay triple. The game would end on a Cade Bush strikeout with the bases loaded.
