FORT MYERS, Fla. - North Florida men's tennis (7-8) notched its fifth straight victory, while also staying undefeated in conference play (3-0) defeating FGCU (5-10) on Thursday evening.
The Ospreys won another doubles point, which is something they have done in all three conference matches this season. It started on line one for the Ospreys as ITA No. 43 doubles team of
Jonas Hartenstein and
Rodrigo Crespo won their match, 6-3. Shortly after, they brought home the doubles point from line three with
Breno Marques and
Andreas Scott winning their match, 6-2.
UNF jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, as Crespo made quick work of his opponent (6-0, 6-1) in route to his fourth straight singles win. Marques handled business in straight sets (6-3, 6-4), while Scott won in straights as well (6-2, 7-6 [7-3]). These two victories put the Ospreys up 4-0 on the evening and secured the match win over the Eagles.
From the remaining three courts, UNF grabbed two of them by way of
Jonas Hartenstein and
Juan Pablo Cenoz. Hartenstein took down his opponent (4-6, 6-1, 1-0 [10-4], while
Juan Pablo Cenoz grabbed his third straight victory (1-6, 6-1, 1-0 [10-5]).
The Ospreys head back up the highway to take on another in-state Atlantic Sun opponent in the Stetson Hatters (14-2) on Saturday afternoon.
