JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida baseball (14-7, 4-0 ASUN) cruised to a game one victory against Central Arkansas (9-13, 1-3 ASUN), winning 3-1 behind excellent pitching on Saturday afternoon at Harmon Stadium.
The Ospreys bounced back after a tough midweek loss, as
Peter Holden and
Bryce Fisher combined to allow one run. UNF scored their runs on home runs from
Jabin Bates and
Jakob Runnels, which was enough to secure the victory.
Holden continued his excellent season with 5.1 innings of scoreless ball. He put runners on base in every inning, but was able to work out of trouble. He struck out eight, while picking off two runners.
UNF's bats were quiet for a portion of the game, as their three runs all came on two swings.
Jabin Bates opened the scoring for UNF with a two-run home run in the second. The Ospreys third and final run of the game occurred in the third, when
Jakob Runnels sent a baseball to the batting facility.
Bryce Fisher took over in the sixth and was able to escape a bases-loaded jam. He would allow just one run, finishing off the game and recording his third save of the season.
