DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - North Florida baseball (13-7, 3-0 ASUN) fell in a midweek matchup against Bethune-Cookman (10-9), 2-1, on Tuesday evening.
The Ospreys' bats struggled throughout the game, mustering only two hits total. They kept the game tied through eight, but lost on a walk-off single in the ninth.
UNF starter
Brett Dennis was in control early, looking sharp through two innings. He allowed the game's first run in the third on a solo home run. North Florida did not record its first hit until the fourth, and were unsuccessful in bringing the runner home.
The Ospreys were able to score the tying run in the sixth on a
Cherokee Nichols' RBI groundout. That would be the only run scored in the game for the road team. UNF had outstanding pitching throughout the game, especially from
Jordan Wimpelberg and
Avery Love. North Florida would eventually fall in the ninth on a walk-off single.
