Baseball Run-Rules Queens (N.C.), Wins First ASUN Series

Ospreys Win Fourth Straight Weekend Series

CHARLOTTE, NC. - North Florida baseball (12-6, 2-0 ASUN) continued a successful road trip with a seven-inning run-rule victory against Queens (4-15, 0-2 ASUN), 12-2, to take its first conference series on Saturday afternoon.

UNF scored nine runs from the fifth on to secure the weekend series to open play in the ASUN. The Ospreys have now won four straight weekend series.

The Ospreys scored early in the first inning on an RBI single from Jabin Bates. Queens tied the game up in the second, but UNF responded with back-to-back home runs in the third from Jakob Runnels and Cherokee Nichols

The Ospreys would continue to score from the fifth inning on. They scored one in the fifth, six in the sixth, and two in the seventh. The sixth inning featured two-run singles from both Bates and Fletcher Cline. Four different Ospreys had multi-hit games in the Saturday victory.

Clayton Boroski was excellent, tossing four and a third innings off one run ball. The bullpen was efficient too, as Brett Dennis went an inning and two thirds against the Royals' lineup without allowing a walk or hit. Brody Maynard slammed the door to secure the win.
