Men's Tennis Preview: vs Chattanooga

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's tennis stays at home, as they look to get back to winning ways in its midweek match against Chattanooga on Wednesday evening at UNF Tennis Complex.

The Ospreys take on the Mocs for only the second time in program history, as they aim to stay undefeated against the team from the Volunteer State.

Opponent: Chattanooga Mocs

About the Opponent – Chattanooga (6-9)
  • This will be the Mocs' final non-conference match before starting conference play on Sunday, Mar. 17, versus The Citadel.
  • The senior and freshman duo of Peyton Gatti and Jakub Jupa are 5-2 in doubles dual play this season.
  • Jupa, the freshman from the Czech Republic, comes into Thursday's match with 7-4 record in singles dual matches this year.
  • The Mocs have a winning percentage of 62% from their top spot in doubles play so far this season.
  • Chattanooga is still looking for their first road win of the season (0-6).


NORTH FLORIDA NOTES

  • The Ospreys first meeting and only meeting against the Mocs was UNF's last match of the 2020 season due to COVID.
  • In that 2020 match, the Ospreys won, 5-2, at the UNF Tennis Complex, while senior PJ Kotan took part in the win.
  • Kotan won his singles match in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) that evening.
  • Junior Breno Marques will look to build on his back-to-back singles wins against the Mocs.
  • A three-match win streak would be the longest since Marques won four matches in a row in the 2023 season.
  • ITA No. 52 doubles pairing of Jonas Hartenstein and Rodrigo Crespo are looking to build on their active seven-match doubles win streak.
  • With a win Wednesday, the Ospreys will move back over the .500 mark at home with a record of 3-2.
  • Wednesday's match will be the last non-conference match of the season before starting Atlantic Sun play on Sunday, Mar. 17, against Kennesaw State.
