Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. - North Florida men's tennis (2-6) faltered on the road once again at FAU on Friday afternoon.
UNF welcomed back Senior
Jonas Hartenstein into the lineup, but his presence was not enough as the Ospreys lost 4-0 against the No. 35-ranked FAU Owls (10-3).
The Ospreys seemed in it from the start as it took all three courts to decide the doubles point. The pairing of
Jonas Hartenstein and
Rodrigo Crespo moved to 5-1 in doubles on the season, as they won their match 7-5.
This left the doubles point to be decided by match two, which was in the hands of
Juan Pablo Cenoz and
PJ Kotan. The duo at one point was up 3-2 in their match, but they were not able to close it out with the Ospreys dropping the doubles point.
Due to the match being played to clinch, this left three of the six singles courts unfinished on the afternoon. The Ospreys were on their way to pull back a couple of points, but the match was deemed final before that transpired.
Sophomore
Andreas Scott won his first set in singles, 7-6 and 7-2, after tie-break and was leading, 3-2, in his second set before the match finished. In addition, Crespo and Kotan won their first sets, 6-2, and were in a tight battle in their second sets before the match went final.
The Ospreys return home to play hosts to Belmont on Wednesday, Mar. 6, starting at 2 p.m., at the UNF Tennis Complex.
