Swimming Breaks 400 Free Relay Record on Final Day of Atlantic Sun Championships

Four School Records Broken Over Four Days

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - North Florida women's swimming concluded the inaugural Atlantic Sun Swimming and Diving Championships with its fourth school record in as many days as the 400-yard freestyle relay record was broken in the last race of the event on Saturday. 

The group of Ashley Kephart, Marcia Shaw, Victoria Torres and Ashley Cozad broke their second school record of the championships in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a combined time of 3:24.85, over two seconds faster than the previous record. It was previously set by Torres, Cozad, Kephart and Kate Eaton at the 2023 CCSA Championships with a time of 3:27.49. 

All told, the Ospreys broke the school record for the 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle relay, 100-yard breaststroke and the 400-yard freestyle relay over the course of the four day meet.

CLIPBOARD NOTES
  • Over the course of the ASUN Championships, the Ospreys recorded a total of 21 top-ten program times
  • Torres swam the fourth fastest 100-yard freestyle at the evening finals with a time of 51.50
  • Kephart recorded the eighth fastest 100-yard freestyle in program history during the morning prelims with a time of 51.69 
  • Kephart would go on to record the sixth fastest 100-yard freestyle in program history during the finals, touching the wall in 51.53
  • Aydan Horrigan tallied the 10th fastest 200-yard backstroke in program history in the morning prelims, touching the wall in 2:03.62  
  • Horrigan took home a 14th place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle finals, touching the wall in 17:41.13, a personal best

"We capped off the ASUN Championships with some really fast swims. Aydan Horrigan swam her best 1650 freestyle to start off finals. Ashley Kephart and Victoria Torres swam two top-ten times in the 100 freestyle. We finished the night with a new record in the 400 freestyle relay with Ashley Kephart, Marcia Shaw, Victoria Torres, and Ashely Cozad.
