Women's Basketball Stumbles Against Jacksonville, 77-60

Broermann Records Fourth Double-Double of Campaign

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Despite a double-double from Emma Broermann, North Florida women's basketball fell in a tough matchup against cross-town rivals Jacksonville in the River City Rumble, Thursday evening at UNF Arena. 

Kaila Rougier led the Ospreys in scoring with 17, her second game in a row with 15+ points. Broermann's 11 points and 12 rebounds was good enough for her fourth double-double of the season, tying her season-high for rebounds in the process.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
First Half: 
The Ospreys started off hot with Kaila Rougier finding Lyric Swann for three to take the early advantage … Emma Broermann found Rougier beyond the arc to sink her first trey of the contest … Sarah Taub extended the lead to five with a layup for her first points … with just under three minutes in the first quarter, the Dolphins took the lead on the back of a 9-0 run … The Ospreys struggled offensively in the last minutes of the quarter, with Jacksonville holding a 12-8 lead … The Dolphins started the second quarter with six straight points before Rougier knocked down a trey to cut the deficit to seven … Rougier continued to stay hot, driving in back-to-back layups to keep the Ospreys in the game … Jayla Adams cooked up her first points of the game with a pair of threes, but the Dolphins responded with a trey to make it a ten-point game … Swann hit a jumper before Broermann made her first field goal of the contest with a layup followed by an and-one … The Ospreys began to mount a comeback towards the end of the period, but Jacksonville would take a 35-29 lead into halftime. 

Second Half: 
Taub got the Ospreys on the board to start the half, driving a layup to the basket … Rougier connected with Broermann again for another layup to take her point total to eight … Jacksonville extended its lead to 17 before Taub hit another layup, her third make of the contest … Alexa Washington drained her first three after Broermann found her at the edge of the arc … The Ospreys ended the third period with work to do as Jacksonville held a 59-43 lead going into the fourth … Rougier knocked down a layup to start the fourth to take her total to 13 … Rougier continued to put the team on her back with another driving layup … Taub stole the ball before driving in her fourth layup of the night … Swann sank a jumper followed by another Taub layup to take her total to double-digits … Swann snagged a steal before driving all the way to the rim for the bucket and Agnes Rafnsdottir knocked down a trey, but it wasn't enough as Jacksonville came out on top 77-60.
