DeLAND, Fla. - North Florida men's tennis flexed their muscles down in DeLand to kick off its final fall weekend with a dominant showing on the first day of the Stetson Invitational on Friday afternoon.
The Ospreys racked up a sweep of seven singles wins from all of their players, as well as three of their four doubles pairs taking victories in the first round of matches against ASUN foe, Eastern Kentucky. Six of the seven victories came in straight sets, while the seventh win came through retirement midway through a 3-1 lead in the third set.
In the doubles round,
Bruno Vietri and
Andreas Scott teamed up for a narrow 7-5 win, along with freshmen
Lorenzo Messina and
Jean Deloziere take down the Colonel pair, 6-3.
Chase Healey was paired with a player from the Navy Midshipmen in what was another win, 6-4, against EKU.
North Florida continues its final fall weekend with the next round of matches at the Stetson Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 9, in DeLand, Fla.
