Women's Basketball Drops Road Game at UCF

Stinson Efficient From Range in Fourth Quarter

ORLANDO, Fla. - North Florida women's basketball (1-4) showed fight in the fourth quarter after a string of three-pointers late in the game, but ultimately fell to UCF (4-0), 82-53, early Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman Jamisyn Stinson led the team in scoring for the Ospreys with 15 points in 11 minutes of playing time off the bench. All 15 of her points came in the fourth quarter, where she drained five consecutive three-point attempts, including a 12-0 run by herself from behind the arc.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

First Half: Jazmine Spencer started the action for the Ospreys with a three-pointer for the first points for UNF...after a tough stretch of scoring, Sarah Taub closed out the quarter with the last five points, including an and-one bucket with three seconds left...Jasmynne Gibson worked in the paint to get the first score of the second period...Spencer scored once again with a driving layup before Nicole Carreno hit a smooth three-point jumper from the top of the arch...another score from Carreno, followed by Taub and Selma Eklund hitting buckets, sent the Ospreys into the half down by 19 points.

Second Half: Just like the first half, Spencer opened for the Ospreys behind the three-point line...Helena Rafnsdottir hit another UNF three to go along with a second-chance layup from Kaila Rougier...Stinson came off the bench and made a three-pointer to start play in the fourth off the UCF turnover...Stinson caught fire in the fourth with four straight three-pointers after a UCF score to cut the deficit to 16 points nearing the final media timeout...a couple final scores from Rafnsdottir wasn't enough for the Ospreys in their defeat to UCF on the road.

  • The freshman's efforts helped lead UNF to a slight advantage for bench points scored, 31-27.
  • Rougier played the most minutes of any Osprey with 36 total on the court in back-to-back games.
