Ospreys Will Face West Virginia in the First Round on Nov. 21
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - North Florida men's soccer will make its second NCAA Championship tournament appearance in program history in the first round with a matchup against the Sun Belt champions, West Virginia, on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 5 p.m., in Morgantown, W.V.
The Ospreys return to the national stage for the first time since 2015 after hoisting the ASUN trophy in a 3-3 (4-3 in PKs) thriller against Central Arkansas over the weekend. UNF goes into the tournament as winners in four of its last five matches and 13 goals in that span as well.
The winner of the first round match between North Florida and West Virginia will then take on No. 11-seeded Virginia in the round of 32 just days later on Sunday, Nov. 24, in Charlottesville, Va. The third round will span from Nov. 30-Dec. 1, followed by the quarterfinals from Dec. 6-7 and the College Cup Final Four from Dec. 13-16.
UNF enters the national bracket as the only program from the state of Florida to be represented in the tournament field. It will also be the first time ever that the Ospreys will face WVU in program history.
In its quest to an ASUN Tournament Championship, UNF took down a long-time rival in FGCU, 3-0, on its home field to pick up its first win against the Eagles since 2016. The Ospreys faced their next challenge in a rematch against the team that beat them on senior night to fight through their way to a conference title and NCAA tournament berth.
