MACON, Ga. - North Florida men's tennis wrapped up its season-opening fall tournament-styled weekend at the Mercer Gridiron Classic hosted by Mercer on Sunday afternoon.
The Ospreys were led by its recent newcomers, as
Jean Deloziere,
Lorenzo Messina and
Benjamin Scott paved the way with a trio of singles wins. Deloziere and Messina fought hard battles that went down to tiebreakers, in which they both won, 11-9, in the final set.
Scott's victory came in straight sets, while
Bruno Vietri and
Chase Healey were victorious after injury withdraws from Sunday's round of the tournament. Messina and Healey also were deemed winners in doubles competition with a third withdraw occurring against Mercer's pair.
North Florida will be seen competing next at the ITA Southeast Regionals hosted by UCF from Oct. 10-15 in Orlando, Fla.
