Women's Tennis Wins in Tiebreaker Thriller, 4-3

Nash Led Ospreys to Victory in Tiebreaker Match Point

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's tennis (3-1) got back on track with a nail-biting win against Elon (1-3) on Sunday afternoon. The match was played to clinch, but that did not come into play, as all seven points were needed to decide the winner at the UNF Tennis Complex.

The Ospreys started hot by sweeping the doubles point through the likes of Kendall Nash and Anslee Long (6-4). It was then followed by the doubles pair of Alisa Lyshko and Jasmin Makela (6-3) to wrap up the point for the Ospreys.

In singles play, Amy Kaplan held her own in the top spot today, winning her matchup 6-4, 6-4, after Annabelle Davis was a late scratch in the singles lineup. Makela followed by winning her match in a three-set battle to tie up the Ospreys' team score, 3-3.

This left the spotlight on Nash to decide who would be taking home the fourth and deciding point of the match.

The graduate student from Jacksonville, Fla., came through for the Ospreys, winning her match in a third set 7-4 tiebreak. This was her second tiebreak victory of the match for Nash, while showing grit and perseverance in her performance.

The Ospreys hit the road next with a trip to Tampa, Fla., where they will face USF on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m.
