Ospreys Host ASUN Preseason Favorite Lipscomb

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida's women's soccer returns to Hodges Stadium to kick off a two-match home stand as the Ospreys (3-4-2, 1-1-0) host  ASUN Preseason Favorite Lipscomb (6-4-0, 2-0-0) Thursday, Sept 21.
 
The Ospreys aim to keep its momentum following a 2-1 win against Stetson Sunday, Sept. 17. The first collegiate goal from Chloe Lynch and a game-winner from Kayla Bond sealed the victory over the Hatters. Eight different players have combined to score the ten goals the Ospreys have recorded this year.

Series History
This is the 18th matchup in series history between the Ospreys and Bisons …  the last time UNF hosted Lipscomb, the Ospreys came away with the 2-1 double overtime victory thanks to a Thais Reiss winner as Sydney Hauth provided the equalizer in regulation … the Ospreys hold the largest margin of victory over the Bisons winning 7-0 in the first-ever matchup between the teams Oct. 14, 2005.

DELAND, Fla. - North Florida women's soccer maintained its undefeated streak against Stetson under head coach Eric Faulconer following a commanding performance that saw the Ospreys (3-4-2, 1-1-0) defeat Stetson, 2-1, (1-7-1, 1-1-0) 2-1 Sunday, Sept. 17.

  • Lipscomb has started the campaign with a 6-4 record 
  • The Bisons recorded wins against Siena, MTSU, Evansville and Ole Miss to start the season
  • Similar to the Ospreys, Lipscomb took on Troy, falling 1-0 
  • The Bisons also saw losses to Tennessee, Tennessee Tech and No. 7 Alabama

Finding Balance
  • Kayla Bond's game winner against Stetson Sunday, Sept. 17 was good for her second goal of the season, tying Jersi Dadah for the team high 
  • Dadah paces the team in points and shots with five and 14 respectively after hitting a career high in shots taken in a single game against Stetson  
  • Eight Ospreys have combined to score all ten goals for UNF this season 
  • Paige McSwigan and Chloe Lynch have both recorded their first collegiate goals this season against No. 22 UCF and Stetson respectively

  • North Florida women's soccer set a new women's sporting event attendance record hosting a crowd of 4,459 at Hodges Stadium against #1/5 Florida State Thursday, Sept. 7 
  • This shatters the previous record of 1,017 set by North Florida women's basketball against Liberty, Jan. 12, 2023 
  • At the time it was the seventh highest across NCAA DI women's soccer this season 

Preseason Honors
  • North Florida was tabbed third in the ASUN Preseason Coaches Poll
  • Sofia Miliancano, Allyna Thurston and Zara Siassi all made the Preseason All-ASUN Team
  • Miliancano put the league on notice with her play last year and was named ASUN Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year
  • Thurston was named to the United Soccer Coaches Defenders to Watch List

  • The Ospreys return a veteran team that features 25 returners
  • 19 of the 38 Ospreys are underclassmen, with 20 being upperclassmen
