Volleyball Takes First Frame, Comes Up Short in Four

CONWAY, S.C. - UNF volleyball stymied TCU's offense in the first frame, but the Horned Frogs (2-3) rebounded as the Ospreys (2-4) came up shy in four sessions against the Big 12 foe Saturday, Sept. 2. North Florida sent 15 Ospreys to the floor as UNF concluded the weekend after two matches against P5 foes and another against a Group of 5 opponent.

Inside the Sets

Set 1: A 3-0 spurt put UNF up, 8-5 … North Florida added to the lead, holding TCU to .000 as it built an early, 11-7 advantage … Maddie Boyd posted two kills and two solo blocks early, aiding UNF's 15-9 lead at the media timeout … Kailey McKnight closed the session with her fourth kill … North Florida never trailed at any point in the set .. TCU hit under .000 … neither side had an ace in the first.
Set 2: TCU finally took its first lead of the match, going up 6-1 to start the frame … UNF hung around, getting within two at 8-6 … the Horned Frogs put up a 3-0 run to regain some of their breathing room … similar to UNF's first set, TCU never trailed and evened things up.
Set 3: TCU used a 3-0 run to take a 4-2 lead early … UNF had a 3-0 spurt as well, cutting a five-point deficit to two at 10-8 … the seesaw nature of the set continued with TCU's 3-0 run as the Horned Frogs paced the match, 15-11 at the media timeout … TCU held on to take the frame.
Set 4: The fourth set started with a TCU early lead, pushing UNF to a timeout nine points in … Mackenzie Piester and McKnight teamed up for a block to complete a 3-0 run and cut into a six-point deficit … the Horned Frogs would win the frame to close it out in four.
