JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida men's soccer returns to Hodges Stadium after a comeback road victory, looking to bring momentum against Florida Atlantic on Monday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m.
WHAT TO KNOW
- The Ospreys have scored a goal in each of their past four games with multiple scores in the last three.
- Eight goals have been scored over games against Winthrop, St. Thomas and Georgia Southern.
- Luc Granitur holds the lead in goals scored with three, followed by Bendeguz Burka, Joaquin Acuna and Zach Board with two each.
- Acuna also has two assists to go with his two scores on the year, but Nick Kishchenko has the team lead with three total.
- The junior does lead the team in shots with 13 total. He's the only Osprey with double-digit shot attempts thus far.
- The game against the Eagles on Friday evening marked UNF's second double-digit shot effort.
- After back-to-back miraculous saves in the final minutes of Georgia Southern, Chema Preciado expands his save count to 17 total with only six goals allowed in five games.
- 12 players made appearances in last season's match against FAU, including seven starters.
- Granitur will return after being unavailable against Georgia Southern.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Florida Atlantic brings its 1-1-2 record into its fourth road match in five games. FAU opened the season with a wild, 6-4, win against Lipscomb. FAU is coming off a 3-1 loss at Jacksonville before making the trip across town to play the Ospreys at Hodges Stadium.
The Owls rank among the best not only in their conference, but also in the nation for many offensive stats. They are first in goals per game, shots on goal per game, assists per game, points per game and saves per game in the league with top-20 rankings nationally in each one.
Tom Abrahamsson was the only Owl named to the AAC Preseason All-Conference Team, which was the second time in his career earning preseason accolades. Oliver Moller-Jensen also received AAC Rookie of the Week honors early in the year after tallying a goal and an assist in the win against Lipscomb.
Three FAU players have scored multiple goals led by Victor Claudel, who has scored in three of the first four games of the season. Rotem Fadida has been outstanding in front of the net as well with 22 total saves, including nine in the season-opener against Lipscomb.
