JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UNF women's tennis (14-6, 6-1 ASUN) secured another conference win after beating Eastern Kentucky (5-17, 1-6 ASUN) in a 6-1 victory Thursday morning. The Ospreys have won six consecutive matches in conference play and are in position to secure a share of the regular season title with a win tomorrow.
UNF picked up where it left off from last weekend by dominating in doubles.
Kit Gulihur and
Ana Paula Melilo secured a 6-1 victory in the top slot. Shortly after,
Kendall Nash and
Isabel Oliveira clinched the doubles point for the Ospreys in a 6-2 win. The final court was left unfinished.
The Ospreys wasted no time in singles as Gulihur secured a 6-0, 6-1 win in the top slot. Oliveira dominated at the third court with a 6-0, 6-0 victory to give UNF a 3-0 lead over the Colonels.
Jasmin Makela clinched the win for the Ospreys by defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-0. Not long after, Nash earned the fifth point for UNF in a 6-1, 6-3 win. Davis secured a victory in two sets to give the Ospreys a 6-0 lead. Although Melilo fell in a ten-point tiebreaker, the Ospreys secured the 6-1 win to stay at the top of the ASUN standings.
The Ospreys face Bellarmine tomorrow, April 7 at 2 p.m. at the UNF Tennis Complex in the regular season finale, honoring three seniors post-match.
