JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UNF women's tennis (15-6, 7-1 ASUN) closed out the regular season with a win after defeating Bellarmine (4-20, 1-7 ASUN) Friday afternoon, securing at least a share of the ASUN Regular Season Title. Three seniors were honored post-match before the team was given its 2022 ASUN Regular Season Co-Champion rings.
The Ospreys had no problem securing the doubles point as
Annabelle Davis and
Jasmin Makela earned a 6-0 win.
Kendall Nash and
Isabel Oliveira clinched the doubles point in a 6-1 win while the top court was left unfinished.
In singles play, the Ospreys quickly earned a 2-0 lead as Oliveira's opponent retired in the first set. Makela dominated in a 6-0, 6-0 win to lead the Ospreys just shy of clinching the match.
Kit Gulihur had no problem clinching the win on Senior Day as the top-seeded player earned a 6-1, 6-0 win. Although Nash retired in the second set to give the match a 5-1 score,
Ana Paula Melilo earned a win in two sets and Davis did the same to finalize the 6-1 victory.
The ASUN Tournament will begin Saturday, April 15 and run through Saturday, April 22. All of the semifinals and the championship match will be hosted at the UNF Tennis Complex, with the first rounds and quarterfinals being held at host sites. Seeding and match information will be announced when information is given.
