GAINESVILLE, Fla. - UNF men's tennis (14-6, 7-1 ASUN) completed the regular season with a road test against the No. 21 Florida Gators (13-10, 5-5 SEC) Tuesday evening, coming up short in the Power Five matchup.
Jonas Hartenstein and
Rodrigo Crespo held a 6-5 lead against No. 6 Will Grant and Axel Nefve at the top doubles slot, but the court was left unfinished as Florida clinched it at the third slot.
The Gators kept their momentum going in singles, despite valiant efforts from Hartenstein and Crespo at first and second singles. Hartenstein nearly took the first frame against No. 41 Axel Nefve, while Crespo came up short, 6-4, 6-4. The top three singles positions saw UNF taking on ranked foes as the Gators snapped the Ospreys four-match winning streak.
The Ospreys will face the winner of North Alabama and Queens Friday, April 14 at 11 a.m. in the ASUN Conference Tournament Quarterfinals at the UNF Tennis Complex.
