JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball (19-11, 2-4 ASUN) eyed a sweep but came up short in a pitcher's duel, 1-0, loss to Stetson (18-15, 2-4 ASUN) to close out its first home conference series on Sunday afternoon.
The Ospreys entered on a four-game winning streak, including back-to-back wins against Stetson, but fell just short in a game that was decided by only one run. A base knock up the middle in the fifth was all it took for the Hatters to score an unearned run and take the last game of the weekend.
Ashley Connor and
Izzy Kelly were dominant in the circle, as they combined for four strikeouts, four hits allowed and no earned runs allowed. Kelly came into relief in the fifth inning and retired nine straight batters to give the Ospreys a chance up until the end.
