JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The home cooking continued for UNF men's tennis as the Ospreys (9-4, 2-0 ASUN) completed a gauntlet of a week with a 5-0 shutout against Austin Peay (3-9, 0-2 ASUN) Sunday, March 19. The win brings North Florida to 7-1 at home on the year and 2-0 to start league play for the first time since the Ospreys' 2018 ASUN Championship season.
Sunday's match completed a stretch of five home contests in seven days, while also marking the first-ever meeting between UNF and Austin Peay. Freshman
Spencer Dorosheff earned a UNF milestone, taking home his first-career dual singles win.
How it Happened
UNF dominated with 6-1 wins at first and third doubles, clinching the first point in only 27 minutes. North Florida didn't give the Governors any time to reply as a 6-0, 7-6 (7-3) win from
Andreas Scott put North Florida up a pair.
Bruno Vietri traded blows before emerging ahead with a hard-fought, 6-4, 6-4, win at the third slot. It was a race to two sets between
Jonas Hartenstein and
Spencer Dorosheff at slots one and six respectively. The two Ospreys finished just seconds apart as the duo made it 5-0 UNF with a pair of straight-sets wins.
The remaining courts were left unfinished to accommodate Austin Peay's travel schedule.
