KENNESAW, Ga. - Despite falling behind briefly following the doubles portion of play, North Florida men's tennis (10-4, 3-0 ASUN) put its foot down in singles competition by winning five of six courts in a 5-2 road win Thursday night.
The win gives UNF three-straight wins to open league play, as well as two-straight road wins during that stint. North Florida (10-4, 3-0 ASUN) improved to a dominant 15-2 against the Owls in the series history, snapping a two-match skid against KSU (8-5, 1-1 ASUN).
How it Happened
Rodrigo Crespo and
Jonas Hartenstein continued their winning streak in doubles, taking the top slot, although Kennesaw State was tough at the other two positions en route to the point.
Hot starts slowed the Owls in singles, with Crespo and
Andreas Scott jumping out to large leads at six and second singles. Scott downed Anthony Weingarten, 6-1, 6-4, although Kennesaw State got one back with a straight-sets win at the fourth slot.
North Florida didn't drop a set at the remaining four positions, with Hartenstein, Crespo,
Matt Carroll and
PJ Kotan all taking home wins to put the Owls away.
