Women’s Tennis Preview: Ospreys Travel to Miami to Face FIU

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UNF women's tennis will make a trip down to south Florida as it plays the Florida International Panthers Saturday, Feb. 11 at 12 p.m. at the FIU Tennis Courts. This is the Ospreys' last match before a two week break until they host Auburn on Saturday, Feb. 25.

About the Opponent - FIU 
  • This will be the sixth matchup between the Panthers and the Ospreys 
  • FIU leads series, 5-0 
  • Last beat the Ospreys Feb. 18, 2022, 4-3 
  • FIU is 2-1 this season with only loss to No. 10 Miami 
  • Kamila Umarova and Ekaterina Khairutdinova are ranked 44th in ITA Doubles Rankings
  • Roster features three returners and four newcomers
  • One of the newcomers is transfer Salma Loudili, who was named 2021 Big South Player and Freshman of the Year at Radford University 
  • Panthers went 17-5 in 2021-22 season

  • The Ospreys are coming off a 4-0 sweep against FAMU last Sunday

  • This is the last road match for the Ospreys until their home opener Feb. 25 against SEC opponent Auburn 
  • Graduate Student Kit Gulihur is ranked 90th in ITA Singles Rankings
  • Gulihur also earned Player of the Week last week, Gulihur's sixth career Player of the Week award 
  • Previously this season, UNF defeated Kansas State, the fourth Power Five team beaten in the last four years
  • The team consists of six returners and two newcomers
  • UNF went 15-9, 8-1 in the ASUN last season
