JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - With North Florida baseball leading Jacksonville 2-0 at 1:34 p.m. in the top of the second inning, the game entered a lightning delay that eventually turned into a cancellation as lightning and rain continued over the afternoon.
The game was officially called two hours from the beginning of the delay. There is no makeup date for Sunday's contest at JU.
Three-game conference series played over three days are designated as not having a makeup date per conference ruling. Additionally, the game reached the maximum delay allowed for a conference series finale.
UNF scored a pair of runs in the first inning, using an
Isaiah Byars single, two JU errors, a walk and hit batter to take the early lead. Statistics will not count toward season totals as the game would not become official.
North Florida has three games remaining in the regular season, with all three games coming against FGCU at home Thursday, May 19 through Saturday, May 21.
Each game will be played at Harmon Stadium and streamed on ESPN+.
