NASHVILLE, Tenn. - North Florida men's tennis (13-6, 4-1 ASUN) edged Lipscomb in doubles and never looked back, taking all but one set in singles play en route to a 7-0 sweep of the Bisons (4-11, 1-4 ASUN) Sunday, April 3 in Nashville.
The Ospreys have now won four of five ASUN matches and improved to 15-0 all-time against Lipscomb. UNF is one win shy of tying its mark of 14 wins in 2019, good for the most victories in a season since 2015.
How it Happened
The doubles point came down to the wire, resting on the result of the second slot. After UNF took the third slot and Lipscomb the top position,
Jonas Hartenstein and
Rodrigo Crespo found themselves in a seven-point tiebreaker to decide the point. UNF's duo won, 9-7, in the tiebreaker, putting UNF up one tally.
Domination ensued for the Ospreys, with North Florida winning 12 of 13 sets played while not permitting its opponents to win more than three games in any of those set victories.
Joe Ellis was the one to clinch the match, doing so at six singles.
Nilo Duarte nearly won 12-consecutive games and
Dominik Barton earned his second dual-singles win in as many matches.
