Softball Weathers Rain Delay, Blanks Central Arkansas

Ospreys Spin Combined Shutout, Annett Clubs Two-Run Home Run

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -  After over a five-hour rain delay, Abi Annett launched the game-winning two-run home run in the fourth and the North Florida (27-10, 6-4 ASUN) pitching staff spun a combined shutout as the Ospreys took game one against Central Arkansas, 2-0, Saturday, April 2.

The day was originally set to feature a doubleheader, although steady rain began to fall at the UNF Softball Complex with the teams tied, 0-0, in the middle of the fourth.

Play resumed in the bottom of the fourth inning just over five hours later, and North Florida was prepared for the resumption. Annett, the second batter to come to the plate after the delay, homered to left center, scoring Shannon Glover in the process for a 2-0 lead.

Righty Morgan Clausen, who entered with two outs in the top of the fourth, continued in the circle and earned the win after allowing just two hits and a free pass in 3.1 frames of work.
