FORT MYERS, Fla. - North Florida cut a 3-0 deficit to just one in the seventh, but FGCU replied with a pair of three-run home runs as the Ospreys dropped game one of a three-game set at Florida Gulf Coast, 9-2, Thursday, April 14.
Game two set for Friday is moved up to 1 p.m. from the originally scheduled time of 6:30 p.m. The time change is due to expected inclement weather.

Behind the Line Score
- FGCU's Joe Kinker took an 0-2 pitch over the fence in right for a 1-0 FGCU lead after the first.
- UNF (13-22, 4-9 ASUN) notched leadoff singles in the first and second but had nothing to show for it.
- The Eagles (22-12, 8-5 ASUN) went up 3-0 thanks to two singles, a wild pitch, RBI groundout and sac fly in the third.

- UNF threatened in the eighth, loading the bags with two outs, but FGCU reliever Darien Smith got an inning-ending groundout.
- Kinker came through for FGCU again, hitting a three-run home run to right center for added insurance in the eighth.
