Softball Falls to No. 2 Florida State

Big Innings Hurt Ospreys

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -  Big innings loomed large for both teams, but it was No. 2 Florida State (31-2) that had more of them as UNF softball (26-10) dropped a midweek-neutral site game to the Seminoles, 12-3, Wednesday, March 30. The game was played across town at Jacksonville University.

Behind the Line Score
  • FSU's bats were hot early as the Seminoles scored seven runs on eight hits in the first two frames. 
  • UNF posted a much-needed three runs in the second inning. Savannah Channell plated one on a double into right center, while Ashley Goebel drove in two with an RBI single back up the box.
  • A ringing double to right field by FSU's Mack Leonard gave FSU an 8-3 lead in the fourth.
  • FSU tried to widen its lead in the sixth, but Izzy Kelly ended the threat by coaxing a fly out to strand three.
  • The Seminoles padded their lead with four runs on five hits in the seventh. All of their scoring came with two outs.
